Case Study: How Mid-South Installed 100 Million Square Feet of Carlisle TPO Roofing
One hundred million square feet is more than three and a half square miles of commercial roof. That’s how much Carlisle Sure-Weld TPO Mid-South Roof Systems has installed, and in 2024 it earned us Carlisle SynTec’s M1LEstone Award.
Carlisle tells the story in its co-branded case study, Beyond the Roofline: 100 Million Square Feet Achieved. Here’s our side of it: what the milestone took, two of the projects that got us there, and why the partnership matters to the building owners we serve.

The Challenge: Building Through the 2021 Materials Shortage
A milestone like this isn’t reached in good years alone. In 2021, the construction industry faced a nationwide materials shortage. Available products changed week to week, but our customers’ project deadlines didn’t.
That’s when the partnership proved its value. Carlisle stayed open and honest about what was possible. When a roadblock came up, they told us quickly, and they came with solutions. That straight communication let us keep our own customers informed and keep projects moving.
Two Projects Behind the Milestone
Two large distribution centers alone add up to more than 4.2 million square feet of the 100 million.
| Michelin | Tractor Supply | |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Greenville, SC | Navarre, OH |
| Year | 2017 | 2021 |
| Building type | Distribution center | Distribution center |
| Project type | New construction | New construction |
| Size | 3,336,953 sq ft | 901,846 sq ft |
| System | 60-mil Sure-Weld TPO | 45-mil Sure-Weld TPO |
| General contractor | Alston Construction | H&M Company |
The Michelin facility covers more than 3.3 million square feet under one roof. Projects at that scale depend on careful crew planning, steady material supply, and close coordination with the general contractor.
The Tractor Supply distribution center was built in 2021, during the materials shortage. Getting it done on schedule depended on the open communication described above.
What Made the Partnership Work
The square footage is the headline. These five things are what got us there, and they’re the same qualities to look for when you choose a commercial roofing partner.
- Personal connections. Carlisle’s team takes the time to know its contractors, so problems get solved person to person instead of ticket to ticket.
- Dedication. Their focus on operational excellence shows up when it matters most: tight schedules and complex jobs.
- Quality. We trust Carlisle’s materials and expertise to support large, complex roofing projects.
- Mutual growth. When we collaborate well, both companies benefit from shared resources, expertise, and opportunities.
- Innovation. Working together has produced products, services, and solutions neither company might have developed alone.
What It Means for Your Building
For building owners and facility managers, 100 million square feet means proven experience at any scale. For another example, see how we re-roofed Toyo Tire’s 413,000-square-foot facility. It means a contractor with the manufacturer relationships to keep projects moving when supply gets tight. And it means a team that has installed the same high-performance system across millions of square feet of distribution, retail, and manufacturing space.
Our mission is to provide commercial roofing’s highest level of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction through a God-honoring pursuit of excellence. Partnerships like this one are how we deliver on it, one roof at a time.

Assess, Report and Decide: Get to Know Your New Building’s Roof
If you’re considering buying a new building, the very first item on your list should be to get an assessment of the roof’s condition. This analysis can prevent surprises down the line and—if the roof needs work—it can have a dramatic effect on the price you wind up paying for the building.
Why You Need A Roofer Onsite When You Install Your HVAC System
It’s common to place the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for large buildings on the roof. A successful rooftop HVAC installation usually involves the collaboration of an entire team of workers, so that issues related to the roof, structures, electrical and HVAC can be discussed beforehand. If an HVAC system is not coordinated…
